Who is Umuzi, what do you do?
We are a globally recognised training provider, working with organisations across the world to connect talented young people with high-value career opportunities and upskilling programmes. Most of our programmes are centred around jobs in tech. Our mission is to increase social equality through digital education and we do this by creating learning pathways for young people to unlock a meaningful career in tech. We are a growing community of learners, alumni, partners and team members that share the values of learning, community and connection.
What programmes do you offer?
Some of our programme offerings include:
Web Development
Data Science
Data Engineering
UX/UI Design
UX Strategy
Java
Salesforce
Data Analytics
Customer Support
Finance
Logistics
These programmes do not run on a set schedule and are dependent on the needs and stipulations of our employer partners. This means we cannot guarantee when any specific programme will run, however, when an opportunity arises, we share this with our community - inviting them to apply.
How do I apply?
Our applications are currently closed for the duration of 2024. If you’re new to Umuzi you can join the waiting list. We’ll be in touch once we’re up and running again.
What are the minimum requirements to apply?
To apply for a learnership opportunity, the minimum requirements that you would need to meet are that you have a Grade 12 certificate (NQF4) or higher, that you are a South African citizen and that you are between the ages of 18-35.
We have opportunities for non South African Africans as well, if you would like to join the community group where we share information about these, join our Whatsapp Community.
Where are your offices based?
Umuzi is a fully remote organisation, we do not have any in-person branches at the moment. All learning programmes happen online.
Can your programmes be done part-time?
Our programmes are generally full-time commitments, but this depends on the requirements of the programme. These will be communicated with regards to each programme we have available at the time.
How do I stay connected to Umuzi and upcoming opportunities?
We have a Whatsapp community where we share information about upcoming opportunities that you are welcome to join.
What is the status of my application?
Applications are closed for the rest of 2024.
If you have been successfully matched with an opportunity, we will reach out to you via email.
If you failed the aptitude test, we will alert you when applications are reopen so that you can reattempt the test.
I passed the aptitude test, what’s next?
If you have already created a profile and passed our aptitude test, we will contact you via email if you are selected for an opportunity. Alternatively, we will contact you with information about other opportunities that you could apply for.
Will I be invited to bootcamp?
Even if you met all the minimum requirements for the aptitude test, it is not guaranteed that you will be invited to a bootcamp. The timing of bootcamps, and the number of people that are invited, all depends on how much demand there is for your chosen career track.
Additionally, even if you have met the minimum requirements, there may be others in the pool who scored higher than you, and the highest scorers on our aptitude test will get preference.
When is the next intake?
Umuzi takes in new cohorts nearly every three months. This depends on the business environment, the needs of our employer partners and the number of applicants we have for a given career track. Applications are currently closed for the rest of 2024 and will re-open with vigour in 2025.
