At Umuzi, our mission remains to create pathways for young people to access the skills they need in order to secure high-value digital careers and become active in the economy.
Through a partnership with WaFunda, we’re introducing a new pathway into our offering, where you can upskill with no upfront financial burden, and pay for this only once you have secured a high-value job.
We know what you’re thinking. WaFun-huh..?
WaFunda is a social impact enterprise that shares our mission to equip, enable and empower young people to access educational opportunities, while addressing the barriers that young people face in accessing education and entering the workspace.
Okay.. and?
We’re expanding our offerings using an ISA model. The current opportunity we have available is our accredited, 1-year programme in Web Development that you will only start paying for once you have secured a high-value job.
In your application you will select your first and second choice of the above in-demand career tracks.
Okay. You’ve got my attention. What is an ISA?
An ISA is an agreement undertaken by a learner (that’s you) and a provider (that’s WaFunda), where the learner receives a loan to access education (through Umuzi) that they will repay only once they start earning above a minimum threshold.
Why, you ask?
We have implemented this new offering to enable us to offer more and more young people with sustainable professional growth options, without them having to accumulate mounds of student debt and uncertainty of financial stability in the future.
I see it, I like it. What Qualification will I get?
For this opportunity, upon completion of the programme you will receive a National Certificate in IT (Systems Development) (NQF5) as well as the following essential knowledge:
Understand all the moving parts in a development project
Rapidly create a prototype to test an idea
Reduce project costs
Simplify and streamline team communication
Get to grips with all aspects of new and upcoming technologies
On the Umuzi programme, you’ll build real software and solve challenging problems, helping you to learn and practice as you work.
This is a full time learning opportunity (12 months).
**If you are not selected for this ISA opportunity with WaFunda, you will be eligible for other potential opportunities with us and we will be in touch!
