SAP Mandela Day

Ensuring that young people have access to skills, education, and opportunities to shape their futures is a cause that is very close to our hearts. Our partnership with SAP exemplifies our commitment to the empowerment of young people. We’re exceptionally proud to be the official implementation partner for  SAP on the "Educate to Employ" programme, which aims to support young people in gaining the skills and experience required to enter the job market, particularly in the technology sector. This initiative provides certifications in SAP software and systems, playing a crucial role in bridging the skills gap and enabling youth access to high-value digital careers.

Recently, the SAP team, some Umuzi staff, and beneficiaries of the SAP Educate to Employ programme spent time at the Protea Multipurpose Centre in honour of the Nelson Mandela Day 67 Minutes initiative. The goal was to help the Protea community restore their multipurpose centre. The beneficiaries came from various locations to participate in the day's activities, which included packing food parcels and planting trees and plants with the assistance of the Johannesburg Zoo and Parks outside the hall.

Moreover, SAP donated computers to provide young people in the community with much-needed after-school access to technology. These computers will support after-school initiatives and help learners prepare for their final exams. Access to these resources is made possible through SAP's partnership with Siyafunda.

The learners enjoyed interacting with the community and participating in the activities. They found significant value in networking with SAP staff members who attended the event. Their excitement about this opportunity was evident in the way they engaged with the staff members.

We look forward to providing learners with more engagement opportunities like these, which not only enhance their confidence and networking skills but also empower them to build brighter futures. Together with our partners, we are committed to making a meaningful impact in the lives of young people, ensuring they have the tools and support needed to succeed.

What a time to be alive!
