June Umuzi Kickers

Is it me, or is time really moving fast? It was just the start of June not so long ago! Regardless, June has been good, we have all been pulling our weight and doing the best we can despite all the COVID-19 turmoil we have been served.

The C28s have settled into their new home and streams. The word out is, that they are such a pleasure to work with! We are glad to hear this. While they have been settling in, our C22s and C23s have been preparing to leave the nest; some have already been placed for work experience and are well on their way to completing their Recruit Journey.

Let’s see what else has been going on this month.

UI/UX Design Spotlight

Cohort 26’s Shining Stars!
The ladies of C24 Digital Product Design are dominating this cohort; they are kick-ass, but special shout-out 2 months in a row, goes to Simphiwe, Keneilwe (you want to avoid presenting after these two) Ditshepo and Yolanda. They’re all consistent.  Well done for all your hard work and dedication.

C26’s Lerato Molapisi has shown a lot of growth in her work. She’s also persistent and never misses a session despite challenges with the sheds. We all know it can get real hectic with load shedding. Busisiwe Gcume - Again, despite challenges, she always finds a way to show up and get work done.

Behind the Scenes: Umuzi Edition

New Faces On The Block

Our Umuzi team has gained new members this past month. We have 3 fantastic new faces to introduce to our community this month! Family meet our new staff members Nhlangano Chabalala, Bradley Oliver ,Sekgomotso Shalang and Babalwa Mbolekwa who joins us for work experience. We are super thrilled to have them on board and looking forward to some #MakingUmuziBetter days to come.

Babalwa Mbolekwa, has also been kicking some serious a$$ in our tech department. She has developed a small feature on Tilde. It's live and people are using it. This is what she had to say; “It's been challenging and exciting at the same time, lol. Had to learn the tech stack used from scratch, but thanks to Sheena, she's been guiding on how to best learn and apply the knowledge on the platform. I'm still learning new things (a bit challenging there) but I have actually realised that I can do great things if I push myself haha”.
