October 1st saw the beginning of an exciting journey with 12 web development, data science and UX/UI design learners from all over the country.
Each time we’re able to welcome a new cohort into the Umuzi space, we’re reminded of the glory that is working with talented young people in our country - as well as the power behind driving this impact narrative. Through a partnership with Equal Experts and Strider Tech, C36 is set to move through a programme of upskilling, product development and work experience at the partner to kick-start their careers in tech.
We got to asking WHY UMUZI and WHERE TO NEXT?
Phelisa Nondzaba, a UX/UI Design learner, sees Umuzi as a space to upskill and learn about the theory of design that is fun, transparent and gets things done. Her goal for now is to rack up as many UX Design qualifications as possible!
Yolanda Khoza, a designer from the Eastern Cape, discovered Umuzi when she was at a point in her life that felt stagnant and far away from her full potential. The financial strain of tertiary education kept letting her down trying to balance work, studies and family life. Now she’s heading all the way to the stars, and never coming back!
For web developer Raymond Mawina, Umuzi is affording him the opportunity to gain web development skills, as well the opportunity to go to an established organization to gain work experience. He hopes to launch his career with the title of junior web developer and later become an entrepreneur by building and running a tech company.
